Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Candace Cannon, owner of 1101 Photography. The handsome man in the photos with me is my husband, Todd, and the best photography assistant a girl could ask for!
I have loved taking photos for as long as I can remember. The first camera I remember using was a lime green Kodak point-and-shoot film camera. I would hate to know how much money I spent on developing film back then! I loved documenting my high school memories with that little camera from building the homecoming float to volleyball games and birthday parties.
I fell deeper in love with photography when I took my first darkroom class in college at USC. Working in the darkroom was magical.
After I got married, a friend really encouraged me to start taking photos as a side business and that is how 1101 Photography got its official start.
I continued growing and deepening my knowledge when I took some photography graduate classes at USC that benefited not only me but my students.
There are two reasons for the name 1101 Photography. One is that my grandmother who I was extremely close to passed on September 11, 2001, and it is a way of remembrance to her. The other reason is the verse from Hebrews 11:01 which states, "Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen."
I am so lucky because I get to live out two of my passions, teaching art and documenting life through photography. I am a full-time high school art and yearbook teacher who spends many of my Saturdays taking photos.
I am so thankful for the love of Christ in my life. I hope I can shine at least a little of His light back into this world.
I love naps, coffee, succulents, sunflowers, pumpkins, making lists, a good pedicure, golf cart rides on the farm, spending time with Todd, and documenting the precious life God has blessed us with!
I don't take for granted my clients allowing me a front-row seat into their lives and allowing me to watch their families grow over the years. I love that often my clients feel more like friends and family. I am so grateful for their support.
